It appears that PwC’s trouble from the Oscars are already impacting them. Its currently impacting PwC in their lawsuit with MF Global.

Jury selection for the MF Global case against PwC began on March 6, 2017.

We stated in previous posts that the Oscars fiasco was likely to cause a huge hit to PwC’s brand, and it has already reared it’s ugly head in the case of PwC’s MF Global holdings ltd lawsuit.

The judge presiding over the case asked potential jurors if they had any strong feelings or opinions about PwC that would impeded their ability to be impartial. More than a third of the potential jurors raised their hands. There’s really only two possibilities as to why they would have raised their hands.

Either they are former employees that are disgruntled, or they watched the Oscars and hear the news about the partners at the Oscars. For example, maybe they saw the news that PwC partner was backstage tweeting pictures of Emma Stone instead of getting the best picture award correct.

The good thing for PwC is that these jurors took themselves out of the selection process. The bad thing is that there might be jurors left in the selection pool who are subconsciously impacted by the Oscars.

Everyone has heard about the Oscars. It was all over the news.

This case will be PwC’s first real test of the Oscars impact on the brand. This will not be a cheap test either. This case has damages listed in the billions.

PwC cannot catch a break. They settled the Taylor Bean lawsuit for an undiscloses sum recently, they had the Oscars fiasco, they have this huge MF Global lawsuit to deal with, and Caterpillar was raided last week. Caterpillar is another huge client of PwC’s. That situation also has huge implications for PwC because they might face government sanctions and they are already facing a lawsuit from one of Caterpillar’s shareholders.

We will have to see how all this bad news impacts PwC. Will they lose employees? Will they lose clients.
