On Friday June 3rd PwC announced the admission of 226 partners on its website. The internal email they sent around stated that 234 new partners were admitted though. Seems there is a bit of a disconnect there but whatever.
Demographics of the new partner class
According to Bob Moritz, 44% of the new admissions are women and minorities. You can tell that this is a huge point of pride for PwC. They are trying to address the issue with the perception that all partners at public accounting firms are white males.
The one thing they don’t address is the average age of the new partners. PwC has been struggling with ageism recently. Unfortunately, I don’t think they were able to consider age when admitting partners in this year’s class, but I do expect that to change going forward. I expect their new admissions to have older people in the coming classes to battle the image as agists.
