What is appropriate big 4 interview attire. First off, you need to make sure you dress to impress on your interview. You don’t want to wear the bare minimum outfit to get you a big four job. For example, you don’t want to wear a poor fitting suit with black leather boots just because that is all you have.

People make decisions off of first impressions unfortunately. If you don’t look impressive in your interview, why would Ernst & Young, Pricewaterhousecoopers, Deloitte or KPMG be impressed enough to hire you?

You also need to make sure that your look is conservative. The big four public accounting firms are conservative companies. Your interview clothing needs to mirror that image.

Big 4 Interview Attire For Men

For men it is obviously essential that you wear a suit. If you are currently recruiting for a big 4 job out of school, you might be hoping that you don’t have to wear a suit because they are expensive. Unfortunately you do have to wear a suit.

Just because PwC established a casual dress code policy does not mean that you can show up to your big 4 interview in casual attire. You need to dress to impress.

Belt

Make sure your belt matches your shoes

Shoes

Make sure you wear leather shoes. Preferably black leather shoes that are nicely polished. If you don’t go with black, at least try to wear a dark leather shoe. Make sure that your shoes match your belt and vice versa.

Tie

Choose a tie that goes with your suit and shirt. Tie your tie well in advance of your interview. You don’t want to worry about tying your tie when you are trying to get out the door and get to your interview in time.

Shirt

I would go with a plain white shirt. It is simple and easy to match shoes and ties with. It is also conservative. White also reflects an image of purity and a sense of calm.

Suit

I wouldn’t wear an all black suit to an interview. It is simply too boring, and it looks like you are going to a funeral. Pick a navy blue suit or pick a black suit with some kind of conservative pattern. Make sure to buy a suit that looks good and will last you a while.

Big 4 Interview Attire For Women

Make sure not to overdo the make up.

Women can wear a suit or very nice dress blazer. Make sure to wear high heels to really impress your interviewer. Also make sure that your shoes are polished. Polished shoes are not only for men.

Don’t wear too much accessories to the point of where you distract your interviewer.

Additionally, don’t be too provocative with your clothing. You don’t want to distract or offend your interviewer.
