Grant Thornton has announced that they will be laying off 300 people in the United States. This is about 3% of the US workforce.
Grant Thornton is based in Chicago Illinois.
KPMG and EY have already said that they will also have layoffs. EY said that they will lay off about 3,000 people in the United States. EY is obviously a much larger firm than KPMG.
Similar to those firm Grant Thornton will be downsizing anyone that is in deal consulting.
How will Grant Thornton determine the layoffs?
Grant Thornton said that they will determine the layoffs from pockets of underutilization. GT is also said to be monitoring business conditions as they assess future layoffs. If they were doing that, then they wouldn’t be laying people off because the markets have been on an upward trajectory.
