Interview Question #1 – The first questions is why work at Ernst and young?

It’s a simple question, but it will be asked and you will need to answer it well.

There are tons of reasons to want to work for Ernst and young but you need to be able to answer why you want to work at Ernst and young. Other than the personal reasons you might already have, you should at least mention EY’s strong brand.

They are the 3rd largest professional services firm in the world by revenue. That’s a huge reason to work there.

You can also mention EY’s vision 2020 and their initiative to build a better working world. Vision 2020 is EY’s initiative to be the most distinctive big 4 brand. You can mention how that bold vision really spoke to you in your research of EY. A part of that goal is to make $50 billion in revenue by 2020 which is a lofty goal. You might want to ask your interviewer how that vision will impact your future at EY.

Interview Question #2 – Who is Ernst and Young’s CEO?

Carmine Di Sibio is EY’s Global CEO. Prior to being the chairman and CEO of Ernst & Young he was the lead partner of client service for E&Y. Carmine took over for Mark Weinberger recently. He was previously a partner in financial services for EY’s audit and advisory practices.

Interview Question #3 – What interests you about Ernst and Young?

When you are asked the question about what interests you about Ernst and young you have to be ready to answer with something that interests you.

You can say that ey’s investment in their community interests you. In fiscal year 2018 ernst and young invested 125 million dollars and 740,000 hours to strengthening its communities.

Another example of what EY has done in its communities is EY nextgen. EY nextgen is an intiative in south Africa that helps young girls pursue degrees in medicine, engineering and accounting.

In the US. Ey is helping students and unemployed people develop their public speaking, networking and presentation skills so that they have confidence to lead and grow professionally.

You can also say that EY’s commitment to developing their employees technology skilss also interests you. EY has something called an EY badge. These badges are given out to employees who have developed skills in technology.

You can say that you feel like EY’s commitment to providing employees additional credentials provides you comfort that you will be able to develop your brand and credentials at EY.

Another reason that you might want to work at EY is that they were awarded world’s most attractive professional services firm employer in universum’s annual ranking. They were 4th overall in that ranking behind apple, google and goldman sachs.

Ey was also listed as one of the 100 best companies to work for for a record 20 years in a row.

EY was also inducted into Diversity Incs top 50 hall of fame for ey’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

If that isn’t enough, EY is also investing $1 billion in new technology solutions and capabilities.

Ernst and young is the third largest professional services firm in the world. They provide audit, tax and consulting services to the largest companies in the world.

Interview Question #6 – What are the EY’s values?

EY describes their values as who they are. They say they are

  • People who demonstrate integrity, respect, and teaming
  • People with energy, enthusiasm, and courage to lead
  • People who build relationships based on doing the right thing

You need to study EY’s values before you head into your interview. You should try to answer all your questions in terms of EY’s values to show that you fit with their culture.

Another thing you can mention about Ernst and young is their purpose. They state that their purpose is to build a better working world. Many companies and especially the big 4 mention this frequently. What this means is that they are trying to make working life better for everyone by using automation, artificial intelligence and offshoring. Make sure to mention this purpose in your interview.

The earliest founding date for a member firm of Ernst and young was in 1849 with harding and pullein. IN that year the firm was joined by Frederick Whinney.He later named the firm Whinney Smith and Whinney in 1894. In 1903 Ernst & Ernst was established in the united states. Arthur Young found his firm in the United States in 1906. Ernst later merged with Whinney in 1924. Ernst and Whinney merged with Arthur Young in 1989 to form Ernst and young.

Ernst and Young earned $36.4 billion globally in 2019.

Interview Question #9 – How many people work for Ernst and Young?

Ernst and young had 284,000 employees as of 2019. Which makes them the second largest firm by employees behind Deloitte.
