Question #1 – Why work at KPMG

It’s a simple question, but it will be asked and you will need to answer it well.

There are tons of reasons to want to work for KPMG but you need to be able to answer why you want to work at KPMG. Other than the personal reasons you might already have, you should at least mention KPMG’s strong brand. They are the 4th largest professional services firm in the world by revenue. That’s a huge reason to work there.

You can mention that you saw that they were ranked as #5 in the world’s most attractive employer rankings for business students.

In the US kpmg was ranked as number 29 on the fortune 100.

In the UK kpmg was named as one of the top 50 employers for women.

KPMG was also ranked number 8 on Diversity Inc’s top 50 companies for diversity.

Question #2 – Who is KPMG’s CEO?

Bill Thomas is the global CEO of KPMG. He has been the CEO of KPMG since 2017. He was previously the chairman of KPMG’s Americas region. He was also the CEO of KPMG Canada. He received many awards during his tenure as CEO of KPMG canada. It’s very interesting for one of the big 4 to have a CEO that is not from the united states, but then again KPMG is not really a U.S. firm so it isn’t that unusual for them.

Lynne Doughtie was the U.S. Ceo of KPMG, but she will not seek to be CEO in the future. It seems like the audit scandal that shook KPMG has kept her from keeping her position. Stay tuned to see who takes her position.

Question #3 – What interests you about KPMG?

When you are asked the question about what interests you about KPMG, you have to be ready to answer with something that interests you.

You can mention a lot of things in this area.

For example, you can say that you like that KPMG is a large global company that operates in 154 countries. You feel that the extensive network of KPMG will enable you to build your global acumen and global network. Since most large companies are multinational, you can say that KPMG’s global reach will help you fulfill your desire to work on large companies and gain experience.

You can also mention KPMG’s strong professional culture. You value their culture of relying on their values. You believe you will be a better professional by growing your career at KPMG.

You can also mention KPMG’s investment of $4 billion in innovative new services, technology and acquisitions. As a young person starting their career, you feel it’s important for your potential employer to be investing in the future as you believe technology is an important part of the future.

You can also mention that KPMG’s diversity and initiatives related to diversity are very important to you.

You can also say that you were impressed by KPMG’s rankings in:

  • Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to work for (ranked 29),
  • Fortune’s Best workplaces for women
  • 2018 Diveristy Inc (ranked 8th)
  • Working Mother Magazine 2018 (Top 5 Best Companies for Multicultural Women)

Some of KPMG’s largest clients include:

  • GE – GE used to be one of KPMG’s largest client until they became a small company. Because of all the issues, GE is probably still large client due to extra auditing that KPMG has to perform.

  • Wells Fargo

This might seem like an easy question, but you have to have an answer prepared in case it is asked.
KPMG is the fourth largest professional services firm in the world. They provide audit, tax and consulting services to the largest companies in the world.

KPMG describes their values as who they are. They say:

Reinhard Goerdeler was founded in 1953 – The G in KPMG.

The KPMG network was founded in 1987 when Peat Marwick merged with Main Goerdler.
